Numerous awards have been won through the years including winning three times the coveted Louisiana’s Overall Custom Jewelry Designer of the Year. Owner, Richard Melancon was awarded 1994 and 2000 Louisiana’s Jeweler of the Year with Melancon Jewelers Inc. being the 1996 Louisiana’s Jewelry Store of the Year.
Richard Melancon of Melancon Jewelers won a national contest “The Torch Award” presented by the Southern Jewelry Travelers Association (SJTA). This annual design competition showcases and recognizes the design talents of bench jewelers/designers across the country. This competition invites all state jewelers associations to submit winners of their own individual previous years’ design contests to compete nationally. The competition for the Torch Award was by invitation only. You must compete in the Jewelers of Louisiana design contest and win the 2010 Custom Jewelry Design of the Year to qualify. This year's design was a beautiful 2-carat total weight diamond cross Croix du Soleil- French for Cross of the Sun.
